Aaron's the King of the Castle! (A impromptu photoshoot at the Mackenzie King ruins)

So we went letterboxing today at the Mackenzie-King estate. Mackenzie-King is one of our form primeministers. And quite possibly now one of (if not) my most favourite. His vision, and his creativity is awe inspiring once you walk around his estate and see the thought, effort and vision he had for everything. In the pics you're about to see, you will not only see Aaron (because what pics do I take that don't have him in them?) but you will see a set of ruins that he salvaged from various places and had them placed on his property as a way to preserve them. Some of them are from the first parliment building, and others were from old stone houses in the area. It is stunning. It is beautiful. And, in Aaron's eyes, it was his "Castle". (Please excuse the photo overload)

Precursor to Canada Day --- Dad & I were on the A Channel news. CLICK HERE TO SEE IT!!!

And, for the record, they asked me to put the sweater on. (Actually, they asked Mom to put it on first. But, she voluntold me to do it istead. ;) ) It was a little too hot for it, I thought.

All in all, it was an interesting experience.

A day at Dundonald Park

With May 13th sitting at a gorgeous 26c (75f mom) we sure weren't going to waste it by letting a little eczema get in the way!!! And we loved it!











And then, we moved to the bus. Which, I was told (by Aaron) was broken because it wasn't moving. Then he got out of the bus to "fix" it. (And yes, before someone else says it. Let me.... Just like his father.)









Then we got back in to see if it was working yet.





With some final adjustments...



It was working again. And we decided to congratulate ourselves and point out the obvious...



Sometimes, you are what you wear.

All kidding and cuteness aside though... Something very interesting happened today. There were 2 other little boys playing at the park. And (what Aaron is actually doing in the above pic) Aaron kept pointing at himself and then at the other little boys. He wanted to play with them. But, they were a little bigger and were consumed in their game. Once the one little boy left though, Aaron walked over to the other little boy (who was black. I only mention this because it becomes integral to the story later on) and started pointing to the bus, making the sign for bus and frantically saying "BUS! BUS! BUS!!!" He wanted the little boy to get in the bus so he could take him for a ride.

And, while the little boy understood and promptly climbed into the bus. He made an mistake. He climbed into the front drivers seat of the bus. Which prompted Aaron to point to the back of the bus and say "NO! NO! NO!"

(CAN YOU SEE ME JUST TRYING TO HIDE BEHIND THE SLIDE HERE? I wanted to. But instead...)

I calmly explained to Aaron that the other little boy had every right to a turn in the driver's seat and that Aaron had no authority to tell the other little boy where he could sit on the bus.

(And then I silently thanked God that the mother of the little boy was on the other side of the park fiddling with the Snugli she had brought for the little boy's infant sibling.)

First Ice Cream - Mother's Day 2008

After such a busy day at Parc Omega, we opted for an easy Mother's Day and walked down to the market for ice cream.

Aaron LOVED it!!!

And Mommy loved the Dripstix ice cream holder that made it way less messy than it should have been!

Wilderness Safari.

Today was a monumental day for our family. Today we found something I love about Quebec. (Besides of course, the dear and close friends that I have there, $7 daycare and (of course) Poutine.) (I love you Jen! ;) )

Today, we found Parc Omega.





Parc Omega is a Canadian version of African Lion Safari (which is quite possibly my most favourite GTA attraction) that houses animals that are indigenous to the Canadian wilderness. AND, (because its in Quebec) they let you feed ALL the animals (EVEN THE BEARS!!!) except for the Buffalo.

First, though, we had to feed the big bear that was in the driver`s seat. So, we lunched in their snack bar on quite possibly the BEST hotdogs ever (they grill their buns like a grilled cheese! Yummy!) and real French Canadian Poutine (not something I normally have. But, I feel its a must when I`m in La Belle Provence! (See, I really did like the place. I didn`t make the belly joke!)

(This is not the bear that drove us to the park. And to be honest, the bear wasn`t really bear like. Just a very hungry daddy/husband who needed to eat.

And then we needed to purchase some obsorbanantly priced carrots for feeding the animals. (Next time (yes, there will be a next time) we will purchase the carrots ahead of time and bring them with us.)





Then it was off on the car portion of the parc.

Right away, we knew that 2 bags of carrots would not be enough.



We were on carrot ration.


A Red deer greeted us at the gate.


And then he wanted more!

All of the animals that won't eat eachother roam freely. Next up were the Wild Boars (or as Aaron called them... Pigs!)



We loved the "pigs"





Especially the babies







We saw Fallow Deer



And we fed them little pieces of Carrot that the Daddy Bear (aka. Marc) cut up for them.



But we fed the Wapatis the big pieces because we wanted to keep our fingers. And, they drool a little. ;)





And then we came to the http://www.parc-omega.com/en/bisons.html... (Remember them? We're NOT ALLOWED to feed them... I think someone forgot to tell the this guy though.)



So I did up the windows.



And Aaron hopped in the Driver's seat.

(He wanted me to go sit in his car seat. But, I had to say no.)

He eventually relented and let me stay in the passenger seat while he took us over to the Arctic Wolves... They're very pretty.





The Alpine Ibexes were there for a visit.



(They're a little scary. They're horns are BIG!!!)

One lonely Red Deer was hanging out with them. He got our last carrot.

And, of course... Le piece de resistance... L'Ours Noir! (That's "The black bears" for all you unilingual folk. ;) Who am I kidding! I read the website coding! :P )











And then, I ran out of space on my memory card. :( I took a lot of video. Which I will post once it is edited down.
